How to Install and Use Free Photoshop Actions
- Download the pack from its creator’s page. If it arrives as a ZIP archive, extract it and read the included instructions and licence.
- Find the
.atnfile. In Photoshop on desktop, open Window > Actions, then choose Load Actions from the panel menu. Select the file and load it. - Open a copy of your photo. Expand the loaded set, select the action you want, and press Play. Follow any prompts for selections, masks, or other settings.
- Compare the result with the original before you save. If the action leaves editable layers, use those controls to adjust the result.
Adobe documents the loading process in its guide to managing action sets. Some packs also include brushes or other resources that need to be loaded separately. A PSD kit, such as entry 43, uses its own document instructions instead of the ATN loading steps.
