Small Camera Accessories

Transcend 32 GB CF Card

If your camera uses a CF card, then this is the one I recommend. It’s a good brand, great capacity, and super fast reading a writing speeds. Exactly what I look for in a memory card.

WD 1TB USB 3.0 Portable HDD

Back up your photos. As someone who has suffered a hard drive failure, I can’t stress this enough. This portable hard drive is good quality, superfast, and has a great capacity.

Transcend 32 GB Class 10 SD

If your camera uses a SD card, then this is the one I recommend. It’s a good brand, great capacity, and super fast reading a writing speeds. Exactly what I look for in a memory card.

19-in-1 Memory Card Reader

You never realise quite how slow transferring your photos through your camera actually is. That is, of course, until you buy your first card reader. It’s cheap, just buy one. Trust me.

Canon RC-6 Wireless Remote

Wireless remotes are really useful for taking photos without jogging the camera as you do so. They’re also very useful for taking self portraits. Choose the right brand for your camera!

Hoya 77mm UV Filter

UV filters are used mostly to protect your lens from getting damaged, but you need to buy a good quality one. Low cost filters will damage your image quality, so invest in quality filters.

Hoya 77mm Polarizing Filter

Polarizing filters remove glare and haze from a photo, which are really useful when you’re shooting in the sun. Same rules apply, buy quality filters or you’ll damage your image quality.

Tiffen Color Graduated ND Filter

Graduated filters are used for taking photos when the brightness of the sky throws off the balance of the exposure. Using an ND filter allows you to counteract this. Choose the correct size.

Hoya 72mm ND-400

This is another neutral density filter, only this time it’s not graduated. This darkens the entire photo, which will allow you to take longer exposure, when there’s good light.

Microfiber Lens Cloth

Lenses smudge, get wet, and attract dust really quickly. It’s important to keep your lenses clean, and that means carrying a small microfiber lens cloth. It’s cheap, and very useful.

LensPENs are used for cleaning lenses because they have a brush for the dust, and a curved carbon end for removing smudges. They’re no good for filters though, because of the curve.

Giottos Rocket Air Blaster

If you have an pesky dust on your sensor, then this air blaster will get rid of it with just a few puffs of air. If you still have problems with dust, I recommend seeking a professional’s help.

Giottos Microfiber Lens Pouch

These pouches will keep your lenses dry and protected, and because they’re made from a microfiber cloth, they can be used to clean your lenses too. Note: Only one pouch per order.

Rechargeable Batteries & Charger

I use a lot of batteries when I’m taking photos with a flash, and it’s important to have them fresh so they recycle fast. Instead of throwing away batteries, I simply recharge them.

Battery Grip for Canon

You’ll want to make sure that you buy the right grip for your camera, but these can be very useful. They save having to change batteries too much, and make the camera easier to hold.

Canon LP-E6 Battery

Same again, choose the right barrery for your camera. Spare batteries are essential because you don’t want to run out of charge, just when you’re about to take a dream photo.

ExpoDisc Neutral WB Filter

This is a great piece of kit. It allows you to set a custom white balance by placing the filter on the front of your camera, pointing it at the light source, and taking a photo.

18″ SLR Rainsleeve for SLR’s

If you like taking photos in the rain, buy you’re scared about getting your camera wet (aren’t we all?), then this is the perfect accessory for you. Buy some wellies too!

X-Rite ColorMunki Smile

ColorMunki Smile does all the work  to calibrate your monitor with a few clicks of the mouse. Calibrate LCD & LED displays – laptop or desktop. Super easy and intuitive wizard.

HoodLoupe 3-Inch Loupe

This accessory is perfect for viewing the screen in bright sun, when it’s much harder to see. It’s a little bit expensive  but it’s lightweight, and does the job perfectly.

Tamrac World Correspondent’s Vest

Quick, someone call the fashion police! Yeah, it’s not the best looking thing in the world, but sometimes practicality wins out over style, and that’s exactly what this vest is: practical.
